Franc Vila SuperLigero Skeleton Tourbillon Orange Lightnium

Just like the recently unveiled Franc Vila Cuatro Tourbillon Dial-Side Column Wheel Monopusher Chronograph watch, their new SuperLigero Skeleton Tourbillon Orange Lightnium timepiece is not really a new product. In fact, it is a differently colored version of the skeletonized tourbillon watch first introduced in August last year.

Both versions are built using the same “Lightnium” lithium-aluminum alloy that can be produced in just about any color you like. The material is also extremely lightweight and stiff and is widely used in the aerospace industry (Space Shuttle’s external fuel tanks are made of an Al-Li alloy, so you get the idea). I doubt that your average watch will ever experience the stress similar to that of a space rocket when it’s piercing the atmosphere, but Franc Vila thinks that the gain in mass reduction and an increase in the elasticity of certain parts will ensure a higher level of accuracy and durability of the watch.
The Franc Vila SuperLigero Skeleton Tourbillon Orange Lightnium sports the same Esprit Unique figure-eight shape as FV’s other watches. Just like the original SuperLigero in blue, the Orange-colored version sports a tourbillon module and a power reserve indicator.

The watch is powered by the FV N° 6 mechanical manually-wound movement with the bridge of the tourbillon and plate made in orange Lightnium. The movement is built on 24 jewels and employs a sophisticated differential gear system.
Like with all FV’s tourbillons, this one’s production will also be limited to just 8 units.
