Edox Sea Dubai Super Limited Edition
The Swiss watch maker Edox has released their new Edox Sea Dubai super limited edition watch commemorating success of the already famous Team Sea Dubai, one of the greatest surprises of the last year’s RC 44 Championship Tour elite sailing even.
Based on the Grand Ocean Automatic series of watches, the new Edox Sea Dubai Super Limited Edition comes sporting the same huge 48 mm x 17 mm case in black PVD and polished stainless steel and features the same general design of its face.
Compared to the recent Edox Grand Ocean Automatic Chronograph I marine-themed watch and the rest of the series, the model is more legible, though.
Its black dial serves as a good background for the steel hour markers and its elegant hour and minute hands are now covered with enough luminescent substance to provide good reading even at poorest lighting conditions.
Powered by the Edox 94 mechanical caliber, which is actually a Soprod 9090 movement based on the ETA 2892/A2 ebauche, the watch also features a big date window at 12 o’clock, as well as a compass-styled power reserve indicator at 6 o’clock.
As you can see, the latter has rather unusual indicator scale telling how many hours exactly (well, not exactly, but very close to) left before the mechanism will stop.
The solid case back of the watch features Grand Ocean’s trade mark illuminator-like cutout that provides a good look at the movement’s balance spring. Well, that’s a nice move for a watchmaker who wants to save a buck or two on skipping the decoration of the mass-produced movement.
Certainly a must have if you can afford paying €4430 for a watch of this class.
Since the timekeeper is supposed to be worn on a boat and features an impressive water resistance rating of 244 meters (so you can actually use it while diving or snorkeling,) it is supplied on a black rubber strap that nicely complements the PVD-treated black parts of the generously sized body of the new Edox Sea Dubai.
