> Anybody knows the reason for the name?

Hi Urano,
The official version is that the name was invented after a California-based company introduced a number of "refurbished" Rolex watches with their original dials replaced with this Roman-Arabic combination. Something like that.

Hi everybody

I own a PAM249 Radiomir 1936 and I bought this beautiful as I was impressed by that "California dial"...and, of course, by its historical appeal (even as a replica).

Anybody knows the reason for the name?

I came to understand that this dial has the upper numbers in roman digits and the lower in arabic ones...this is the deepest "explanation" I could find on several internet sites...but no mention on the reason for the name.

Anybody can help?

Thank you very much for attention.
