Edox Classe-Royale Limited Edition “Jackpot” chronograph

The new Edox Classe-Royale Limited Edition “Jackpot” chronograph watch is offered in an oversized square-shaped case and is powered by a slightly redecorated ETA 2894S2 skeletonized caliber.
One of the most popular in Edox’s model range, the Classe-Royale family may be proud of its new –almost transparent– member.
Although I do not really understand the reason behind the name (it doesn’t look like a game machine to me and I am not sure whether I would like to win it in a lottery,) I really dig the new Edox Classe-Royale Limited Edition “Jackpot” chronograph’s design.
Well, to be fair, this one was presented half a year ago, but I guess you can still find one at the Swiss brand’s authorized dealers.

Featuring an easily-recognizable design of the boxy case, the Jackpot edition hides nothing of its private parts allowing for an unobstructed view through its skeletonized dial and transparent caseback.
Well, putting it simple, I don’t really like the size of this thing. At whole 45 millimeters wide, it is just too big for a man of normal proportions and I can’t really imagine how one would wear it with business attire, while keeping a straight face.
Beating inside case is automatic Edox chronograph caliber 95. Based on the ETA 2894S2 caliber, this one comes with a satin-finished surface and a branded oscillating weight without any extra decoration for the sake of better congruence with the hi-tech design of the case.
Being a skeleton watch, this timekeeper doesn’t hold a world record for the best legibility. However, its hour and minute hands are covered with Superluminova, so, at least at night, reading time will not be an issue.
Regretfully, I can’t say the same about the small seconds hand, which is placed at 3 o’clock and the chronograph hour and minute hands: painted matte black, they seem to be almost completely unreadable regardless of lighting conditions.
