The new Lady Hamilton Vintage wrist watch looks like the most interesting offer from Hamilton of the past couple decades. Featuring an old-school dial decor, which is nicely combined with a baroque stainless steel body, the new timepiece will draw a lot of attention to its owner without making you empty your 401(k) account.
The second-tier Swiss watch brand has once again updated its Lady Hamilton Vintage range of ladies watches.
Well, I feel like I was being a bit gauche implying that this new timepiece tries to target middle-aged ladies, because it doesn’t. I think that it must be noticed that, if combined correctly with other accessories and clothing, its styling will make the watch look good on any woman.
Case & Bracelet
The watch that, probably, commemorates the memory of the famous mistress of Lord Nelson (she lived a fulfilling life, but died a terrible death of liver failure), is available in a medium-sized, heavily decorated rectangular case.
Available in pure stainless steel, as well as in yellow gold-plated or PVD-treated (pictured) versions, the case is only 15.00 mm wide and some 28.50 mm long.
Further amplifying its rather heavy style, the watch is equipped with a huge setting crown that dominates the view, all right, but may also be quite handy for the ladies that prefer to wear long acrylic nails.
The bracelet that this accessory comes on looks very interesting. Perhaps, the only problem here is that you will probably not be able to replace it with something new when you will eventually get tired of the thing. The way it is attached to the body makes me think that Hamilton intends you to keep the watch as it is forever.
The watch sports a very legible dial with high-contrast Arabic numerals and hands, which is a very, very pleasant surprise in the niche where legibility is often sacrificed for the sake of beauty.
The stubby hours and minutes hands could probably be a bit longer in order to maintain better proportions, but that’s my personal preference. And, of course, the railway-style minute track is basically useless here.
Equipped with a simple Swiss quartz movement, the timepiece may be especially attractive to those who don’t want to experience all that hassle that is often associated with mechanical watches. Unfortunately, Hamilton didn’t care to reveal more details regarding the mechanism, but, given its price of less than $300 for a brand new watch, it’s probably one of those throwaway mechanisms that, as the name implies, are simply replaced with new ones if something breaks down.
