The Swiss watchmaker Christophe Claret (both the man and the brand) has just released a couple of teaser images of his upcoming Christophe Claret 21 Blackjack limited edition automatic watch that also works as an ultra-expensive wrist game machine.
As I have already noted, there are only two teasers of the upcoming timepiece so far. Both are not photos of an actual watch (or even those of a prototype) but simple three-dimensional renderings.
However, some technical details of the Christophe Claret 21 Blackjack have been released together with the photos.
Powered by an in-house BLJ08 automatic movement, the watch will be very minimalistic in terms of time telling (it will only display hors and minutes) but will offer a real Blackjack card game with buzzer, as well as craps and even a roulette!
The cards are seen through a smoked sapphire crystal that also serves as the dial and the game is operated with a pair of push-pieces located at 8 and 10 o’clock. The roulette is visible through the transparent case-back of the watch. And the dice can be seen through a side crystal at 4 o’clock.
Frankly, I have no idea how all this machinery will work. Maybe that’s THE idea behind this watch.
According to the press release, the Christophe Claret 21 Blackjack will be delivered in a great number of versions with at least four variations of materials chosen for the 45.00 mm case. There will be watches in gray titanium, titanium black PVD, 18-carat white gold or 18-carat rose gold.
The signature fluted winding crown may be either in gold or in titanium.
Another interesting detail regarding this watch is the hour and minute hands. Depending on the version, they may be made either in ruby / metal (pictured) or ceramic / metal combinations. The one with rubies must look absolutely stunning in real life.
Each version of the watch will be limited to only 21 pieces and sold at an estimated retail price of whopping €200,000.
It will be presented at Baselworld 2011 event.
