It keeps getting better. Breitling has just released a PR blurb regarding its Transocean series of classic-styled wrist watches. Equipped with their relatively fresh in-house chronograph movement, the new 2013 Breitling Transocean Chronograph GMT adds second time zone functionality to the elegant collection.
For this year, the Swiss brand Epos introduces a new version of its COSC-certified three-hander. Well, there are two versions to be more precise: a model in steel (100 pieces), and a more impressive variation in black PVD body, which is limited to 200 pieces. Called Epos 3420 Chronometer, the limited edition watch is powered by a high-grade (although somewhat archaic) automatic movement that was officially certified as a chronometer by the Swiss COSC authority.
At the upcoming SIHH 2013 event, Roger Dubuis will present a new member of their signature Excalibur collection. Sporting the easily recognizable notched bezel and the stylized Roman numerals that RD seems to love so much, the new Roger Dubuis Excalibur 42 Chronometer Chronograph also sports their fresh automatic movement with micro-rotor design.
It’s been just over two months since the Swiss brand presented a limited edition of its Chronomat 41 chronograph, and now the company with the winged B in its logo presented a new version of its 44 mm automatic chrono. Called Breitling Chronomat Frecce Tricolori 44 and limited to just 1000 pieces, the new watch bears the emblem of the Italian Air Force aerobatic demonstration team.
First presented in 1952 as a professional navigation instrument for pilots, the Breitling Navitimer has long since transformed into a luxury timekeeper, which is only rarely used to measure average speed or fuel consumption of the aircraft. However, the watch remains to be one of the brand’s flagships and, being powered by their first in-house Caliber B01 movement, offers an impressive combination of functionality, readability and high build quality. Prepare to love the new limited edition Breitling Navitimer Blue Sky 60th Anniversary automatic chronograph!
Looks like the SuperOcean 42 line of extreme divers has recently been updated with this great looking Breitling SuperOcean 42 White Water automatic diving watch. Although the piece still doesn’t seem to be present in the list of available models on their corporate web site, it sure looks like the White Water is going to be a real winner, if the tremendous popularity of mobile phones, ultrabooks and luxury cars of the same color are any indication.
It looks like a pretty nice reissue is coming our way. The Swiss watchmaker Breitling, a company that is as deeply rooted into the exciting world of aviation and space exploration as its archrival Omega, will soon start selling its new take on the historic Breitling Navitimer Cosmonaute hand-wound watch. Powered by their relatively new Breitling caliber 02 manufacture-made movement, the limited edition pilot’s watch will be almost identical to the original: the world’s first chronograph that orbited Earth back in 1962.
First offered around a year ago, the quartz-powered Breitling Colt 33 ladies diving (sic!) watch gets updated for this year with a wide choice of straps that are crafted from Sahara leather: a natural material that is easy to recognize on first sight thanks to the numerous “dunes” that are embossed on its surface.
For its first appearance at this year’s Baselworld 2012 trade show, the young German watchmaker has presented a number of new timekeepers that belong to their elegant Intemporal collection. Each model has its own good points, but the Lehmann-Schramberg Intemporal Zeigerdatum (Pointer Date) wrist watch seems to offer the most balanced (i.e. it is not over-expensive and is not over-sophisticated) combination of features and a pretty remarkable design.
Rolex, one of the major Swiss watchmakers, has recently updated its range of “professional” Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master (Ref. 16622) automatic watches with a new model in their proprietary “rolesium” alloy of 950 platinum and stainless steel that features a blue dial. Besides offering more contrast display, the new watch looks plain more elegant than the previous variants of the piece, including those with platinum dials.
