The new Pierre Deroche Milady Royal Retro automatic ladies watch offers you a charming complication, which is usually reserved for the creme de la creme of the watchmaking industry.
It’s not what you know, it’s whom you know. Yes, I known that even mentioning the proverb in public is a clear indicator of a, well, not very successful person in the house, but it still never fails to come to mind when you think about brands such as Pierre Deroche.
Established in 2004, it is owned by Mr. Pierre Dubois who happens to be a brother of Mr. Pascal Dubois who happens to own the famous Dubois-Depraz company that happens to specialize in creating all sorts of complication modules for the Who Is Who of Swiss watchmaking industry.
Known all over the world for their sophisticated, yet highly efficient and reliable complication modules and complete movements, the company has become a source of exclusive mechanical calibers for the young Swiss brand. Add into the mix creative minds of the persons standing behind our Perre Deroche brand, and you get a constant steam of watches that not only look expensive, but are also different.
The new Pierre Deroche Grandcliff Milady Royal Retro, for example, features a very rare complication of 6 retrograde seconds hands. Always in constant motion, together they create a mesmerizing effect with their unending relay race that runs around the dial.
The dial itself is also a very interesting (and entertaining feature) of this beautiful ladies watch. Or, rather, a lack thereof since what we see here is actually the movement itself with its decorated bridges and the baseplate serving as the dial.
If you take a closer look at the part, you may notice that the parts of the movement are adorned with floral motif partly formed by small diamonds that complement the ten rubies visible through the front sapphire crystal.
The theme of diamonds is further supported with 64 more full-cut precious stones covering the finely crafted stainless steel bezel.
It must be noted however that, however beautiful, the watch is presented in a rather large (for a ladies timepiece) stainless steel case.
Whole 42.5 millimeters in diameter, it may be too large for most wrists, but that seems to be precisely the point of it: this watch is supposed to draw lots of attention, not only with its lavish decor and unusual dial, but with its sheer size as well. Still, wearing such a monster on a petit wrist may be not the most comfortable experience in your life, so, as always, try before you buy!
