Known among enthusiasts for their superb diving watches, but somewhat lacking enough attention from the media, Edox has revealed yet another object of attraction that will probably go unnoticed by the general public. Called Class 1 Ice Shark (ref. 10301 37N), this rugged-looking chronograph comes in a 45-mm stainless steel PVD-coated case with a scratch-resistant unidirectional ceramic bezel that is also black.
At the Baselworld 2009 fair in Basel, Switzerland, Ulysse Nardin has presented a new member of the Maxi Marine Diver collection.
The new IWC Big Ingenieur Chronograph watch was first presented this January at the annual SIHH-2009 industry event that was held in Geneva, Switzerland. Although as cold and impartial as a man can be, I must confess however that this gorgeous timekeeper currently tops my list of IWC’s Most Wanted Watches being second only to the recently revealed IWC Da Vinci Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month time measuring device.
The Italian watchmaking brand Officine Panerai has presented its new take on the idea of a branded watch. Or, in other words, its growing family of Ferrari-branded chronographs has just received another member. This time, it is the limited edition Panerai Ferrari Chronograph DLC (Ref. FER00038).
The Italian watch maker has just revealed its new Panerai Ferrari California flyback chronograph (ref. FER00030) automatic wristwatch that celebrates the recent introduction of the new red-hot Ferrari California cabriolet. While I personally don’t approve this sort of “co-branding” (in my opinion, it sort of “lowers” both companies,) the new timekeeper may actually become a collector’s item somewhere in the future thanks to its relatively low production run and an unusual styling of the dial.
The self-winding Porsche Design Worldtimer P’6750 (ref. P67126.96.36.1990) was first introduced in April 2007 during the annual show in Basel, Switzerland as a black PVD coated titanium timepiece. Now, it is finally available in a much more impressive (also, more expensive) 18-karat rose gold case.
Featuring a cluttered dial and an oversized body, the Victorinox Swiss Army AirBoss Mach 6 Power Gauge doesn’t look like a practical choice. However, the exaggerated busyness of the exterior and the nice finish of its mechanical movement makes this “aviator” a nice fashion accessory for those who always dreamed about accomplishing a tour of duty on a real aircraft carrier.
Here comes the big one. With its 45mm Speed Command Chronograph (ref. 5785F-11D03-63), Blancpain has introduced its sportiest model so far. Although the exterior defies the recent trend of making rugged-looking devices (inspired by real tools, they often come with lots of angles, lots of machine-brushed surfaces and feature deliberately rudimentary, even crude look to their components), the new Speed Command makes a strong impression thanks to its glossy black sapphire bezel and scratch-resistant body of the same color.
The recently unveiled SUB 5000T Seaconqueror has been officially promoted to the flagship status. Featuring all the usual design traits from DOXA, the device is offered in a deliberately aggressive-looking design with lots of protruding parts that may make you hurt somebody if not used with care.
