Next month, during the upcoming Baselworld 2012 industry fair, the Swiss watchmaker will introduce a new member to its constantly growing Chronomat family of chronographs. Called Breitling Chronomat GMT 44mm, the new automatic wristwatch will be presented in a less intimidating stainless steel body only 44 millimeters in size. Equipped with a second time zone indicator, a chronograph and a date display, the watch delivers practically all functions that you can expect from a “sporty” timekeeper.
The new Breitling for Bentley Supersports ISR Limited Edition Chronograph is offered in a titanium case that, while unmistakably huge, is as lightweight as a swan’s feather. Well, almost as lightweight.
Celebrating the Veteran’s Day, a holiday, which is observed in the United States in order to honor veterans of all wars, the Swiss watchmaker has issued the new special edition Breitling American Tribute that is based on their current Chronomat collection of luxury “aviators.
The recently presented 2011 MY Breitling Colt 44 collection is not just bigger than its predecessors. It also offers a more refined dial and not so rugged-looking body, as well as a less in your face rotating bezel with the traditional 60-minute diving scale.
With its new Navitimer Super Constellation (ref. A23322U7/BB20), which is limited to only 1049 pieces, Breitling supports a local nonprofit foundation that keeps flight-worthy the legendary N73544 Lockheed C-121C Super Constellation airplane. The aircraft is based in Basel, Switzerland and flies with the famous “B” on its signature tripletail.
For Baselworld 2011, Breitling and Bentley have again joined forces to present you yet another co-branded Barnato Racing automatic chronograph.
With its 2011 Chronomat GMT chronograph Breitling presents its new in-house movement, the Caliber B04. Can’t say anything about mankind, but for a brand that for all of its modern history used to equip their ultra-luxury timekeepers with nothing more exciting than ETA blank movements that were re-finished and fine-tuned to qualify for COSC certification, this is a huge step forward.
Although I was not particularly impressed with the last year’s SuperQuartz version, I kinda like the design of the new Breitling Chronospace Chronograph Automatic model, which is now powered by a less accurate but still more charismatic mechanical movement.
Like the Italian Panerai, Breitling keeps distancing itself from the overwhelming monopoly of ETA on high-grade mechanical movements and gradually substitutes their blank calibers with its own mechanisms. Their biggest bet? The in-house Caliber 01 that will replace the omnipresent Valjoux 775x family. The Montbrillant 01 Chronograph is one of those iconic models getting equipped with a brand new “heart.”
With the new limited-edition Transocean Chronograph 01, Breitling somewhat loses its present individuality of a maker of some seriously blingy sh*t, but makes a good claim to the niche of elegant dressy chronographs powered by manufacture-made movements.
