With their 2011 Maestro Automatic Chronograph (ref. 7737-PC5-00659), Raymond Weil adds yet another ETA 7750-powered model to the thousands of other ETA 7750-powered chronographs already available on the market.
Swiss Brands
The Beautiful Swan: Mira Fee Celeste Ladies
At the Baselworld 2011 trade show that gathers the most serious brands from around the globe, the Swiss brand Mira -the one that dates its origins back to 1896, but, regretfully, is not particularly known to the general public- will proudly reveal its new Fee Celeste (ref. M107RBK) model with its dial featuring a beautifully executed Swan motif in 18-karat rose gold and white mother of pearl.
ETA 7750-Powered Oris Big Crown X1 Calculator
Oris, an independent watchmaking brand, has officially presented its 2011 Big Crown X1 Calculator (ref. 01 675 7648 4264-Set 5 23 77) “aviator.” Featuring the traditional coin-shaped bezel and an easy to read dial, the new model doesn’t look particularly original, but it still makes a nice impression with its high build quality and attention to even the smallest details.
Panerai Radiomir Oro Rosa 3 Days (PAM 379)
First unveiled in January 2011 at the SIHH trade show, the Radiomir Oro Rosa 3 Days 47mm (PAM 379) is powered by Panerai’s new in-house Caliber P.3000 hand-wound movement, is crafted from 18-karat rose gold, and is going to be sold as a Special Edition model with only 299 timepieces to ever reach the lucky few.
Audemars Piguet Jules Audemars Moon-Phase Calendar (26385OR.OO.A088CR.01)
The rose gold version of the new Audemars Piguet Jules Audemars Moon-Phase Calendar (Ref. 26385OR.OO.A088CR.01) was officially presented at SIHH 2011 industry event. Although the dressy timekeeper doesn’t bring to the table anything new both in terms of ergonomics and industrial design, I’ll tell you this: a classic calendar watch has never looked so beautiful.
Bvlgari Re-Intros The Gerald Genta Octo Quadri-Retro
With the 2011 Octo Quadri-Retro Chronograph (ref. BGO45BSCLDCHQR) Bulgari keeps on consolidating the legacy of Gerald Genta: an independent brand that they have recently, um, absorbed. This particular model, for example, is a face-lifted and rebadged version of the Gerald Genta Arena Chrono Quattro Retro “wristboard” model that was presented two years at Baselworld 2009 if memory serves me well.
