The watchmaker has recently updated its Jasmine collection with several new models. Powered by quartz and mechanical movements, they all look great and desirable. But it was the new Raymond Weil Jasmine in Rose Gold PVD (Ref. 2935 PCS 00659) that grabbed our attention.
Luminox Series 9270 Updated With F-22 Raptor Edition
The American brand has recently started selling a couple of new aviation-inspired chronographs. One of them is named Luminox F-22 Raptor and the other (we’ll get to it later) the Luminox F35 Lightning II. Being, in fact, updated versions of existing models, they feature more prominent titanium cases covered with stealthy matte black DLC treatment. As usual, both feature a set of signature ever-glowing tubes filled with T25 tritium radioactive gas.
For the Brighter You: Deep Blue Alpha Marine 500
Summer is almost over here in the northern hemisphere, but if your home is closer to the equator or you are simply lucky enough to live in the southern half of the globe, then the new Deep Blue Alpha Marine 500 still may be of some interest to you. This may be especially true for those who plan to visit one of those exotic countries with warm seas and lots of colorful fish in it: the bright colors of Alpha Marine 500 dials will blend nicely in that environment.
Love It or Hate It: Rado D-Star Ceramic Automatic
The 2011 Rado D-Star Ceramic (ref. R15609162) follows in the steps of its more advanced sister: the 2011 limited-edition D-Star Basel Special 2011 model. If you followed the above link, you may have noticed that both models are presented in the same oval-shaped (or, rather, elongated cushion-shaped) black ceramic case and basically feature the same styling with similarly shaped hands and applied hour markers.
Raymond Weil 35th Anniversary Maestro Full Calendar
With the new Raymond Weil 35th Anniversary Maestro Full Calendar (Ref. 12849 G 00659), the watchmaker offers yet another generic timekeeper at a ridiculously high price. Although the brand has been in business since 1976 (it is just a couple of years younger than yours truly,) there is something fundamentally unhealthy with their self-esteem.
Watch Lover’s Gateway Drug: Tissot T-Tempo Automatic
The automatic Tissot T-Tempo (ref. T060.407.11.051.00) is a nice choice for those making their first step into the fascinating world of luxury mechanical timekeepers. While not looking terribly ‘fancy’, not offering you any ‘impressive’ complications and not designed for those wishing to make ‘a statement’, the T-Tempo is a nice crossover between casual and dress timekeepers that also happens to be powered by a mechanism capable of keeping good time, while being robust enough to be abused by a person who is yet to realize that a mechanical watch is like a tiny car: however inexpensive it is, it still needs to be properly serviced at certain intervals.
