Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon 39

February 2, 2011

Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon 39 (refs. Q1368520, Q1362520 & Q1362501) automatic watch

Like a German limousine, the new Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin Moon 39 (refs. Q1368520, Q1362520 (pictured,) and ref. Q1362501) is as conservative as it is contemporary. While the timekeeper doesn’t intend to stun you with high-tech materials that are usually employed by makers of Formula 1 sport cars and F-35 jet fighters, it still delivers a level of refinement that blows brands like Hublot out of the water leaving in them in the dust (figuratively speaking, of course.)

Is This Raymond Weil Parsifal Day-Date a Rolex Clone?

February 2, 2011

Raymond Weil plans to present their new Parsifal Day-Date (ref. 2965 SG5 00658) in a month or so at the Baselworld 2011 show. The new model leaves a bit strange impression. While all elements were delicately touched here and there to avoid copyright claims, it is still clear (well, clear to yours truly, that is) that its source of inspiration was one of the iconic models sold by Rolex. Will Raymond Weil get away with this? Only time will tell.

Panerai Luminor 1950 Chrono Monopulsante Left-Handed

February 2, 2011

Panerai Luminor 1950 Chrono Monopulsante Left-Handed 8 Days Titanio (PAM 345) hand-wound watch

Besides the Luminor 1950 Destro 8 Days Titanio that, too, was presented at the SIHH 2011, Panerai has also unveiled an even more complicated Luminor 1950 Chrono Monopulsante Left-Handed 8 Days Titanio (PAM 345) model. Featuring its signature exterior with a cushion-shaped body and an easy-to-read dial, it was designed for left-handed people, but may also be of liking to those who sometimes feel uncomfortable with their easily recognizable XXL-sized crown guard system.

IWC Portofino Chronograph is a Speedmaster Alternative

February 2, 2011

IWC Portofino Chronograph (Ref. IW391002) automatic watch

Delivered in a moderately oversized body, this new IWC Portofino Chronograph (Ref. IW391002) is a nice alternative to both Patek Philippe chronographs that are just too formal and the Omega Speedmaster series, which is just too sporty. Relatively affordable and styled with attention to even smallest details, this is something that you want to wear in the office.

Hanhart Primus Chronograph Makes a Lasting Impression

January 31, 2011

Hanhart Primus Chronograph Diver automatic diving watch

Hanhart is not as well-known outside of Germany as their competitors from Sinn or, say, Mühle Glashütte. Yet, even if they feel uncomfortable about that, I am sure that they still can find solace in knowing that there are not so many independent brands out there that enjoy an as long history of making fine watches as they do. Established in Switzerland back in 1882, Hanhart now operates on the other side of the border in a German town of Gütenbach, Baden-Württemberg. Preparing for its 130th anniversary, the watchmaking specialist will soon present its new collection of chronographs. The sporty Primus Chronograph Diver is one of them.
