On the heels of the recent Heritage Black Bay 200M Automatic Diver (Ref. 79220R) the Swiss watchmaker has also presented an even more extreme model that is claimed to be inspired by their “classic” pieces. Although not a reissue in the true meaning of the word, this new Tudor Pelagos Diver Titanium 500M (ref. 25500TN) is strongly influenced by the 1968 Tudor Snowflake Ref. 7021. Not being a tool watch any longer, the premium-priced 25500TN is a lot more refined than its predecessor.
Like the sporty Sinn EZM 10 “Einsatzzeitmesser” Pilot Chronograph from last year, the new Clerc Hydroscaph Limited Edition Central Chronograph (ref. CHY-554) comes equipped with a central chronograph minutes hand that not only makes the timekeeper’s dial more interesting to look at. The design also significantly simplifies the task of measuring short periods of time: something that most common chronographs with their tiny, difficult-to-read totalizers are not always good at.
Going into an all-out assault against its archrival IWC (namely, its IWC Big Pilot Top Gun model,) Breitling will soon start selling a limited edition Chronomat 44 TOPGUN. The new self-winding chronograph is going to proudly wear colors of the famous U.S. Navy Fighter Weapons School, which is more known under its “TOP GUN” nickname thanks to the eponymous Hollywood blockbuster starring Tom Cruise.
The 2012 Deep Blue CALDIVER 500 comes loaded with functions, those including an annual calendar, a second time zone display and a power reserve indicator. I am not sure whether a professional diving watch indeed needs so many displays. However, those looking for a monster-sized diver that could also be worn as a casual watch may find the list of functions quite useful.
Celebrating the Veteran’s Day, a holiday, which is observed in the United States in order to honor veterans of all wars, the Swiss watchmaker has issued the new special edition Breitling American Tribute that is based on their current Chronomat collection of luxury “aviators.
Dievas maybe not particularly famous on the west side of the Pond, but it doesn’t keep the brand from expanding its model range of professional (or I’d rather call them “semi-pro entry-luxury”) diving watches. The Dievas Focal automatic diver, for example, not only offers an impressive WR rating of 500 meters (50 ATM) and comes powered by a high-grade Swiss made self-winding caliber, but also features an interesting exterior that will appeal to those in love with the legendary Bauhaus movement.
The U.S.-based watchmaker keeps pleasing us with new models of their inexpensive, yet lovingly designed and finely crafted timepieces. The recently introduced Deep Blue Marine Diver 500, for example, is rated for depths of 500 meters and is elegant enough to be worn on a daily basis, not just with a dry suit.
The recently presented 2011 MY Breitling Colt 44 collection is not just bigger than its predecessors. It also offers a more refined dial and not so rugged-looking body, as well as a less in your face rotating bezel with the traditional 60-minute diving scale.
Summer is almost over here in the northern hemisphere, but if your home is closer to the equator or you are simply lucky enough to live in the southern half of the globe, then the new Deep Blue Alpha Marine 500 automatic diving watch still may be of some interest to you. This may be especially true for those who plan to visit one of those exotic countries with warm seas and lots of colorful fish in it: the bright colors of Alpha Marine 500 dials will blend nicely in that environment.
With the new Carlos Coste Limited Edition Cenote Series diver Oris celebrates the last year’s feat of its ambassador: master freediver Carlos Coste. Swimming under water for impressive 150 meters through a rocky passage inside the monstrous Dos Ojos flooded cave system, the daredevil Venezuelan freediver officially became the Guinness World Record holder for the “longest distance swam underwater with one breath (open water).”
