First presented at Baselworld 2008, the Turbine XL collection was reintroduced for this year with a gorgeous Perrelet Turbine XL (Ref. A3027/1). While the collection is currently available in an extra-large size of 50 millimeters in diameter and offering six different color and material combinations, it is the limited-edition model in rose gold and DLC-coated stainless steel that looks the best if you are into this sort of styling.
For the year of 2011, Omega re-introduces the Ladymatic line from the 1950s. Officially unveiled during the SIHH 2011 event, the new collection features sensual, flowing lines, as well as their high-grade Omega Co-Axial calibre 8520/8521 that was created specifically for the brand’s smaller pieces. Prepare to fall in love with the Ladymatic DeVille (ref. 418.104.22.168.55.001) that will bedazzle you with polished rose gold surfaces, numerous diamonds, and the most beautiful mother-of-pearl dial!
Just like the recently unveiled Daniel Roth Grande Lune, the new Bulgari Papillon Chronograph in Rose Gold (ref. BRRP46C14GLCHP) is a refreshed and rebadged version of the original chronograph that was introduced in 2008 by Daniel Roth. If you happened to live under the proverbial rock during the last year, then I have to inform you with the deepest regret that the Italian fashion house finally decided to completely absorb the Swiss-based brand and gradually start selling their iconic models under its own trademark. Well, there goes another legend.
The self-winding Bvlgari Daniel Roth Grande Lune (ref. 101845) offers unrivaled accuracy of its moonphase complication. Although now coming with an appended brand name of the Italian fashion and jewelry house, the Grande Lune delivers the familiar shape and dial decor and is still powered by the same Frederic Piguet Lepine-type hand-wound movement that was modified and decorated in-house.
At the SIHH 2011 industry event, Parmigiani Fleurier has refreshed its Tonda line with a dressy and elegant Tonda 1950 (ref. PFC267-1002400-HA1241). The timepiece was going to be presented in a perfectly balanced, flawlessly proportioned case and featured only the data that you need: hours, minutes and seconds (just to make sure that it didn’t stop all of a sudden.)
The 2010 Seamaster Aqua Terra XXL Small Seconds is inspired by Omega’s pocket timepieces from the 1930s. Presented at the SIHH 2010, it was issued as a limited edition of just 176 pieces: half of them in white gold and the other half in 18-karat rose gold. Equipped with a Unitas-based pocket watch caliber, the timekeeper boasts an extra-large body almost 50 whopping millimeters in diameter!
With the 2010 AMVOX5 World Chronograph (ref. 193L471), Jaeger-LeCoultre expands its collection of luxury timekeepers featuring a “world clock” functionality that’s all the rage these days.
For the last SIHH 2010 show, Roger Dubuis has presented a great number of, well, ultra-luxury products even including a model with a relatively rare “double tourbillon” design (and that one looked spectacular, I’d give them that.) However, it was the splendid Excalibur Tourbillon Minute repeater that offered a nice combination of classic complications inside wrapped into a “post art-deco” exterior that looked the most interesting offering for this year.
On 18th January 2010, Montblanc has revealed its Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph (ref. 105920) with some parts of its hand-wound Calibre MB R120 made of silicon. Among hundreds of ultra-luxury wristwatches that were presented during the SIHH 2010, this one, perhaps, was among those precious few that offered the most interesting combination of the deliberately classic exterior, and their in-house caliber that now features a deliciously modern twist to it.
During the SIHH 2010 trade exhibition -an industry event that is limited to elite members of the industry-, a brand that only a few years ago was primarily known for their luxury writing instruments, but quickly ascended to the top ranks of local watchmakers- has introduced its new vintage-style Montblanc Collection Villeret 1858 Vintage Chronographe (ref. 106167) mono-pusher. Featuring an exterior that was inspired by chronographs from the early 20th century, the chronograph is powered by a great hand-wound caliber and is limited to less than 120 numbered pieces.
