April 11, 2011

Nixon The Ceramic 42-20

Although Nixon is mostly known for its youth-oriented, comparatively inexpensive models, their recently introduced Nixon The Ceramic 42-20 automatic diver is created with a higher price tag in mind.

Oris Swiss Hunter Team PS (Patrouille-Suisse) Edition

Oris Swiss Hunter Team PS (Patrouille-Suisse) Edition automatic watch

The upcoming Oris Swiss Hunter Team PS Edition (ref. 01 733 7629 4063-Set LS in 44 millimeters and a smaller ref. 01 733 7649 4091-Set LS in 38 mm) collection may not look particularly original both to Oris fans and to those especially interested in aviator’s timekeepers, but, with a part of the proceedings promised to be diverted to a fund supporting a number of the last remaining Hawker Hunter Mk 58 fighter jets from the good old Cold War era, it certainly supports a noble cause.

Is This Raymond Weil Parsifal Day-Date a Rolex Clone?

February 2, 2011

Raymond Weil plans to present their new Parsifal Day-Date (ref. 2965 SG5 00658) in a month or so at the Baselworld 2011 show. The new model leaves a bit strange impression. While all elements were delicately touched here and there to avoid copyright claims, it is still clear (well, clear to yours truly, that is) that its source of inspiration was one of the iconic models sold by Rolex. Will Raymond Weil get away with this? Only time will tell.

Maurice Lacroix Pontos Decentrique Phases de Lune

Maurice Lacroix Pontos Decentrique Phases de Lune

Okay, that’s the last one for today. Also featuring a moon-phase complication the 2010 Maurice Lacroix Pontos Decentrique Phases de Lune (ref. PT6218-TT031-330) speaks a completely different design language with a strong German accent. Just like the other models in the Decentrique collection, the watch sports an off-centered main dial moved in the north-west direction. Still, what is particularly interesting about this one is the time display interface.

Marvin M109.54.43.64 with “Open-Heart” Dial

Marvin M109.54.43.64 open heart watch review

While doing my research on another great affordable timepiece from this manufacturer, the M108 automatic model, I came across this beautiful Marvin M109.54.43.64 with a trendy open-heart design. While I still plan to write a small review of the M108, I just can’t help to stop for a moment or two and make a piece regarding this affordable, yet expensive-looking model.

Eterna KonTiki Date (ref. 1220.41.63.1183)

Eterna KonTiki Date ref. 1220.41.63.1183

Larger than average with its 42 mm in diameter, the 2009 Eterna KonTiki Date (ref. 1220.41.63.1183) is still elegant and lean and will look great on a hand of a guy who spends three nights a week in a gym while keeping a low-carb diet.
