The company that makes watches for American presidents, has re-released its classic Nautical model. First released as a faithful recreation of the 1960s diver and then re-issued around two years ago in an almost the same shape (but with a different movement), this new Vulcain Nautical DLC (Ref. 100152.024LDLC) version gets more modern look with its mid-sized stainless steel body treated with scratch-resistant DLC coating. Still, it loses something in the process.
Limited to just 50 pieces, each bearing an individually engraved number on their transparent back, the 2013 Vulcain 50s Presidents’ Alarm Watch Edition France (ref. 160151.323L) will be offered exclusively in France. Yes, a market that proved to be the most loyal to the brand since it was resurrected back in 2001 in its current form, gets a special edition version of one of their most successful “affordable” complication watches. Powered by Vulcain’s in-house “Cricket” hand-wound movement, this limited edition sports the famous mechanical alarm complication module.
During the Baselworld 2011, the Swiss-based manufacturer has presented a beautiful alarm watch that featured a nicely done automatic movement combined with an understated design of its compact body and beautiful case. While still looking similar to the older version, this 2013 Vulcain 50s President’s Watch (ref. 110151.281LF) comes powered by a different movement that features manual winding but is as easy to operate as the 2011 model.
Presented both in polished stainless steel and 18-karat rose gold, the automatic Vulcain 50s President’s Chronograph (refs. 570157.309L, 570557.312L & 570557.313L) offers you just about everything a grown-up man with a normal sense of self-esteem can expect from a modern dress watch. It has a slightly oversized body, an easily readable dial, and a simple complication that, while not particularly practical, makes it more entertaining and also more pleasant to look at.
Vulcain will soon start selling its new limited-edition Cricket X-Treme Automatic Alarm diver (refs. 211931.201RF & 211931.202BRF) with only six hundred numbered pieces to ever reach the market.
