Louis Moinet Geograph Limited Edition LM-24.10.60

Louis Moinet Geograph Limited Edition (ref. LM-24.10.60)

The new limited edition Louis Moinet Geograph (ref. LM-24.10.60) offers a durable and dependable work-horse movement in an exquisitely designed and flawlessly executed case. Although the recommended street price for this timekeeper is a bit too steep (to a degree when you should rightfully expect an in-house mechanism beating inside its stainless steel case,) it still looks extremely elegant and eye-watering refined. If the price wasn't an issue, I think I would be throwing cash right into my monitor instead of writing this brief review.

Revue Thommen Airspeed XLarge Chronograph (16071.6877)

Revue Thommen Airspeed XLarge Chronograph (ref. 16071.6877)

Later this month Revue Thommen is set to present the new member of its Airspeed family of luxury "aviators": the new Airspeed XLarge Chronograph (ref. 16071.6877). Featuring a bland, even somewhat generic exterior, but being equipped with a robust caliber, the chronograph doesn't offer much in the styling department, but gives you good "value", especially if you will manage to find one with a good discount (or simply opt-in for a used one in mint condition.)

Carl F. Bucherer Patravi EvoTec Calendar

Carl F. Bucherer Patravi EvoTec Calendar (refs. 00.10629.08.33.01 & 00.10629.03.13.01) automatic watch

First presented two years ago in Basel, Switzerland, the EvoTec series is once again extended with the beautiful Carl F. Bucherer Patravi EvoTec Calendar. Available now in stainless steel (Ref. 00.10629.08.33.01) and rose gold (Ref. 00.10629.03.13.01,) the new timekeeper brings to the party a gorgeous hand-decorated caliber that is hidden inside a case that is as discreet as it is sporty.

Muehle Glashuette Marinus GMT (ref. M1-28-53-KB) automatic diving watch

The 2011 Mühle Glashütte Marinus GMT (ref. M1-28-53-KB) diver offers the right combination of useful water resistance rating of 30 ATM together with a 24-hour second time zone indication courtesy of a Swiss-made automatic movement. All of that at an affordable price.

Chanel J-12 Chromatic in Titanium Ceramic

Chanel J-12 Chromatic in Titanium Ceramic (ref. H2566) automatic watch

The 2011 Chanel J-12 Chromatic (ref. H2566) is presented in a new (or, rather, previously not employed as a material of choice by other watchmaking or jewelry brands) form of ceramic. Probably based on titanium carbide, it looks more like high-polished metal and is way more attractive than those glossy, plasticky timekeepers made using different versions of the extremely robust (albeit easy to shatter) material that was popularized by Rado decades ago.

This Kudoke KudOktopus Skeleton is a Masterpiece

Kudoke KudOktopus hand-wound skeletonized watch

At the Baselworld 2011 show, the young master-watchmaker Stefan Kudoke presented his extensively skeletonized Kudoke KudOktopus model. Featuring a vintage movement that was elaborately cut to resemble a giant octopus, the timepiece would probably easily compete even with made-to-order timepieces from Grieb & Benzinger... if only it was equipped with a higher-grade caliber.
