IWC has once again updated its gorgeous Portuguese Perpetual Calendar range extending the line with three extra models and two choices of metal. Besides an older version in platinum (Ref. IW502305,) you can now get it in red gold (Ref. IW502306) and white gold (Ref. IW502307,) too.
I can hardly believe my eyes. At this year's SIHH 2010 show, IWC has finally expanded the Da Vinci collection with its first-ever ceramic (!) model. Judging by the looks of it, the 2010 Da Vinci Chronograph Ceramic (Ref. IW3766) is going to be even more successful than the rose gold members of the Da Vinci family.
It is not the first time that Longines brushes off some dust of its vintage-styled Charles Lindbergh chronograph model. First introduced in 1933 to mark its collaboration with the famous aviator, the Lindbergh's Atlantic Voyage (L2.730.4.11.0) was re-issued several times with some minor tweaking to its vintage-style dial layout.
With the Luminor 1950 Chrono Monopulsante 8 Days Oro Rosa PAM 344, Panerai made yet another significant step towards becoming a full-blown Manufacture capable of making both cases and movements in-house. The 2010 model extended the range of chronographs powered by their hand-wound Calibre P.2004 that was introduced back in 2006 to power the then-future "complication" timekeepers.
Okay, that's the last one for today. Also featuring a moon-phase complication the 2010 Maurice Lacroix Pontos Decentrique Phases de Lune (ref. PT6218-TT031-330) speaks a completely different design language with a strong German accent. Just like the other models in the Decentrique collection, the watch sports an off-centered main dial moved in the north-west direction. Still, what is particularly interesting about this one is the time display interface.
This year Maurice Lacroix will add yet another model to its Les Classiques collection. Sporting the same recognizable design, the 2010 Classique Chronograph with a blue dial (ref. LC6058-SS001-430) is a timepiece that is trendy, dressy, and -what's even more important- up to the point.
With this Casio G-Shock Frogman GWF 1000-1, the iconic Frogman -the model that was created specifically for scuba diving- has received a major facelift. Of course, being a member of the G-Shock family, the update wasn't limited to just looks like it is almost always the case with dressier Submariners and hundreds of wannabes. The main change is hidden behind the timekeeper's resin-clad outer shell.
With its finely sculpted honey-colored gold body, this 2010 Glashuette Original Strasser & Rohde Regulator sports a beautifully executed hand-wound mechanism that features a level of decor that we rarely see even in this price range. I can predict that the hand-made caliber mechanism with its different types of guilloche, blued screws, and visible synthetic rubies will get almost as much "screen time" as the timekeeper's silvered dial with its rare regulator-type display.
