The 2011 Frederique Constant Heart Beat Manufacture GMT (ref. FC-938WR4H6) is yet another resolute step of the young brand towards becoming a true Manufacture, which is capable of making its own calibers.
The new Chopard Jacky Ickx Edition V Chronograph will be issued as a limited edition model that is going to be available either in stainless steel, or in much more expensive (but also a lot more imposing) rose gold body. This is the fifth time that the Swiss watchmaker updates its 24 Hours of Le Mans-inspired Jacky Ickx collection.
For this year, the German watchmaker has presented a revised version of its last year’s “deck” timepiece, which is now aptly named Archimede Deck Watch R. Initially introduced early last year as a prototype, the original was inspired by the famous (at least, among serious collectors) Stowa Kriegsmarine maritime chronometer that was used by the German Navy during the World War II.
The new Union Glashütte Noramis Chronograph LE (Ref. D005.427.16.087.09) was recently presented as a limited edition model to celebrate the 118th birthday of the German brand.
First presented in rose gold and platinum back in January 2011 during the SIHH 2011 industry event, the gorgeous model has been reissued later in the year in Lange’s signature honey-colored gold body and with an unprecedented level of hand decoration. Now officially called A. Lange & Sohne Richard Lange Tourbillon “Pour le Merite” Handwerkskunst (Ref. 761.050) (doesn’t the combination of French and German words looks a bit strange here?) it is even more attractive and, well, even more classic.
With its new Tudor Fastrider Ducati (Ref. 42000) automatic chronograph, the recently resurrected Swiss watchmaking brand continues its trend of offering not particularly bright timekeepers for those considering the canonical Rolex design language too flashy for the price.
The Swiss-American watchmaking brand and the environmental nonprofit organization Conservation International (CI) joined their forces to create a special-edition Hamilton Conservation Auto Chronograph (ref. H604160). Presented by CI’s Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors… wait for it… Mr. Harrison Ford himself, the new timekeeper seems to be based on the recently unveiled Hamilton Khaki Pioneer chronograph.
Celebrating the upcoming 40th Anniversary of Apollo 15 mission (it happened on the 26th of July, 1971,) the Swiss brand has prepared a new Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch “Apollo 15” 40th Anniversary Limited Edition (ref. 322.214.171.124.01.003). As the rest of the series, the “Apollo 15” comes in a 42 mm stainless steel case.
Looking at the new Tudor Grantour Chrono Fly-Back that was officially presented last March during the annual Baselworld 2011 show, I can’t figure out whether Rolex is serious about its resurrected entry-luxury sub-brand or just amuses itself with an old toy.
With its new Navitimer Super Constellation (ref. A23322U7/BB20), which is limited to only 1049 pieces, Breitling supports a local nonprofit foundation that keeps flight-worthy the legendary N73544 Lockheed C-121C Super Constellation airplane. The aircraft is based in Basel, Switzerland and flies with the famous “B” on its signature tripletail.
