Office Diver: Glycine Lagunare L1000 (3899.18-D9)

February 7, 2011

The 2011 Lagunare L1000 (Ref. 3899.18-D9) comes at a fairly affordable price and combines robust design and high build quality with an exterior that many potential customers may find elegant: an important thing in the world where most diving timekeepers spend most of their lives under an impeccably white shirt cuff of an office worker. According to Glycine, the diving tool will be available with three versions of the dial: black, white and blue (which, by the way, looks more like turquoise to me.)

Panerai Luminor 1950 Chrono Monopulsante Left-Handed

February 2, 2011

Panerai Luminor 1950 Chrono Monopulsante Left-Handed 8 Days Titanio (PAM 345) hand-wound watch

Besides the Luminor 1950 Destro 8 Days Titanio that, too, was presented at the SIHH 2011, Panerai has also unveiled an even more complicated Luminor 1950 Chrono Monopulsante Left-Handed 8 Days Titanio (PAM 345) model. Featuring its signature exterior with a cushion-shaped body and an easy-to-read dial, it was designed for left-handed people, but may also be of liking to those who sometimes feel uncomfortable with their easily recognizable XXL-sized crown guard system.

Hanhart Primus Chronograph Makes a Lasting Impression

January 31, 2011

Hanhart Primus Chronograph Diver automatic diving watch

Hanhart is not as well-known outside of Germany as their competitors from Sinn or, say, Mühle Glashütte. Yet, even if they feel uncomfortable about that, I am sure that they still can find solace in knowing that there are not so many independent brands out there that enjoy an as long history of making fine watches as they do. Established in Switzerland back in 1882, Hanhart now operates on the other side of the border in a German town of Gütenbach, Baden-Württemberg. Preparing for its 130th anniversary, the watchmaking specialist will soon present its new collection of chronographs. The sporty Primus Chronograph Diver is one of them.

Vacheron Constantin Historiques Aronde 1954 (Ref. 81018/000R-9657) hand-wound watch

In January 2011, Vacheron Constantin has presented its Historique Aronde 1954 (Ref. 81018/000R-9657). Featuring an unusual shape of its massive 18-karat rose gold case, the Aronde 1954, unlike millions of generic-looking “classic” luxury timekeepers, makes a strong and, what’s even more important, lasting impression.

Roger Dubuis Le Chronographe La Monegasque (Ref. MG44-680-90-00/0ER01/B) automatic watch

The flow of unveilings from this year’s SIHH 2011 just doesn’t want to stop. Among dozens of look-alikes, the new Roger Dubuis Le Chronographe La Monegasque (Ref. MG44-680-90-00/0ER01/B) with its uniquely shaped body and no-nonsense dial feels like a breath of fresh air.
