The Swiss brand, which is mostly known for their flashy, yet affordable mechanical and quartz timepieces, has recently started selling the new self-winding Edox Cape Horn 5 Minute Repeater Skeleton (ref. 87003 3 AID).

Edox WRC X-Treme Pilot III Edition (10303-TIN-NIN)
Even despite the gadget being powered by an average (but, hey, it is still a Swiss made job!) quartz chronograph movement made by Ronda, the new Edox WRC X-Treme Pilot III Limited Edition easily takes the top spot in my personal The Next Sporty Chronograph short list for this year.
Hamilton Pan Europ Chronograph H35716545
First officially revealed at Baselworld 2011, the new Hamilton Pan Europ (ref. H35716545) chronograph is a tribute to the 1971 model that was issued under the same name. No wonder why its total production run is limited to only 1971 pieces. Comparing photos of the re-issue (below) and the original from the 1970s (can’t reproduce for copyright reasons, sorry, but you can easily google one) I can see that the new timekeeper is an almost exact reproduction of the 1971 model.
Louis Moinet Geograph Limited Edition LM-24.10.60
The new limited edition Louis Moinet Geograph (ref. LM-24.10.60) offers a durable and dependable work-horse movement in an exquisitely designed and flawlessly executed case. Although the recommended street price for this timekeeper is a bit too steep (to a degree when you should rightfully expect an in-house mechanism beating inside its stainless steel case,) it still looks extremely elegant and eye-watering refined. If the price wasn’t an issue, I think I would be throwing cash right into my monitor instead of writing this brief review.
Bvlgari Re-Intros The Gerald Genta Octo Quadri-Retro
With the 2011 Octo Quadri-Retro Chronograph (ref. BGO45BSCLDCHQR) Bulgari keeps on consolidating the legacy of Gerald Genta: an independent brand that they have recently, um, absorbed. This particular model, for example, is a face-lifted and rebadged version of the Gerald Genta Arena Chrono Quattro Retro “wristboard” model that was presented two years at Baselworld 2009 if memory serves me well.
Vintage Vibe: Casio G-Shock X Alife G5500AL-1
The Japanese electronics giant and the NYC-based lifestyle brand have teamed together to introduce a co-branded Casio G-Shock X Alife G5500AL-1 model. With its styling reminiscent of the crazy 80s and a relatively low price, the new collaboration makes it tempting to grab for the credit card and make the purchase. Must. Resist. Now.
