Girard-Perregaux 1966 Full Calendar automatic wristwatch (refs. 49535-53-152-53A & 49535-53-651-BK6A)

Girard-Perregaux, one of the oldest Swiss-based watchmaking brands (and also one of the few that are still capable of making their own movements) starts selling a new member of the 1966 family: the gorgeous 1966 Full Calendar (refs. 49535-53-152-53A & 49535-53-651-BK6A), which is now available in an 18-karat white gold case. But don't worry, although the new case looks more discreet, it is still more expensive than the version in palladium that was released back in 2010.

Breitling Montbrillant Chrono Upgrades to Caliber B01

Breitling Montbrillant 01 Automatic chronograph (ref. AB013112-G709BRCT) watch

Like the Italian Panerai, Breitling keeps distancing itself from the overwhelming monopoly of ETA on high-grade mechanical movements and gradually substitutes their blank calibers with its own mechanisms. Their biggest bet? The in-house Caliber 01 that will replace the omnipresent Valjoux 775x family. The Montbrillant 01 Chronograph is one of those iconic models getting equipped with a brand new "heart."

A Modern Cassic: IWC Portofino Automatic 3565

IWC Portofino Automatic (Refs. IW356516 & IW356502) automatic watch

This is certainly going to be a great year for the refreshed Portofino range of entry-luxury watches. Besides the dressy Portofino Dual Time and the elegant Portofino Hand-Wound Eight Days, IWC has also presented a face-lifted Portofino Automatic (Ref. 3565): a modern-classic three-hander with a simple calendar.

Chaumet Dandy Edition Metronome W1118C-25M

Chaumet Dandy Edition Metronome (ref. W1118C-25M) hand-wound watch

The French jeweler Chaumet -a brand that belongs to the same conglomerate that owns such loud names as Bulgari, Hublot, Zenith, and, last but not least, a certain Ardbeg Distillery of the Isle of Islay in Scotland- has introduced its signature Dandy timepiece equipped with a metronome-style seconds hand module. Naturally, the 2011 Chaumet Dandy Edition Metronome (ref. W1118C-25M) is dedicated to Frederic Chopin who, for a time, lived in the same building in Paris where Chaumet's Salons is currently located.
